$250 Laptops: Information on 250 Dollar Laptop Computers

$250 laptops can be purchased but the majority of them are only useful for basic productivity work that doesn't require an internet connection. If you want to get online and surf the net safely with speed then you'll need to increase your budget to at least $299. Ebay and similar auctions are the only places I can think of where you could find 250 dollar laptop computers for sale. Keep in mind that $250 laptops are old, used, outdated machines that typically contain discontinued parts.

New desktop computers are available on the market starting at $199. Those desktops are more than suitable for surfing the internet with speed, checking and sending email, listening to and burning CDs, watching DVDs, and downloading or saving a reasonable amount of files. The lowest-priced laptops usually go for $399 although Asus does manufacture a 7 inch model that starts at $299(only has 2 GB hard drive space). If you want the lowest-priced computer possible plus a secure internet connection then my recommendation is to check out
the options outlined further below and purchase either a $399 full-size laptop, a $299 mini Asus laptop, or a $199 to $250 desktop computer. The bottom line is that $250 laptops are available but they are old and are only useful for typing and saving documents. If you can bump up your budget to between $299 and $399, then you can buy a new laptop that includes the functionality necessary to get online and browse the internet safely with speed. Here are four options worth checking out:

Newegg - Has the mini Asus laptops in stock starting at $299. Usually has at least one new full-sized laptop priced at $399 with more laptop computers priced from $449 to $499. Frequently has a new $199 Everex desktop computer in stock.

TigerDirect - Has the mini Asus laptop computers in stock starting at $299. Frequently has one or more wireless refurbished laptops priced near $399. Always has ten to twenty refurbished desktops priced from $160 to $200.

Walmart - Typically has one or more new laptop computers priced just under $400. I have seen new laptops go for as little as $349 at Walmart which also typically has a new $199 Everex desktop computer in stock.

Dell - You won't find $250 laptops at Dell, but you can often buy a refurbished Dell desktop computer for less than $250 or even less than $200. It's worth checking out if you're open to buying a desktop instead of a laptop computer. Once at the Dell Outlet Store use the drop-down box on the left-hand side of the page to go directly to the "Inspiron" desktops stockroom. Then use the various drop-down boxes to narrow your search further or click on the "Price" column to sort the Dell desktop listings from lowest to highest price.

$250 laptops are typically used for parts but can also be used for basic productivity projects that don't require an internet connection. The cheapest new and refurbished laptops found at major online stores offer the latest word processor and spreadsheet capabilities plus secure internet connection capabilities.
